Trewithen Dairy Cornwall

We’re proud of our county, our past and the generations who brought us here, but the future is our inspiration. We transform the highest quality milk into the most delicious dairy products using natural ingredients. All of it tastes amazing because of how we make it, what goes into it, and why: it’s a serious business and no less than you’d expect.

Our History

It’s taken lots of experience, along with plenty of hard work and patience, to build the business and to produce the delicious dairy products that are at the heart of everything we do.

1976

Trewithen Dairy is owned and run by the Clarke family, who have owned Greymare Farm in the Glynn Valley since 1976.

1994

The Clarke family started crafting dairy products there in March 1994.

1994-2000

In the early days the Clarkes had their own herd. Bill and Rachel would bottle the milk once the children were in bed and deliver it early the next morning.

1994-2000

They cooked the clotted cream themselves, in open trays and potted it by hand. Their customers loved all of the Cornish dairy goodness and soon the Clarkes were supplying more and more happy customers.

2001

By 2001 the milk bottling and cream making side of the business had become so successful that a big decision had to be made. To continue dairy farming or switch completely over to processing milk.

2001

It wasn’t an easy decision, but the family sold their herd and moved full time into producing milk, cream and, more recently, butter and yoghurt.

2001-2023

Son Francis now has a key role as Director in the business working alongside a talented and committed management team.

2024

The Clarke family sold the business in June 2024 to the Ehrmann group, an independent 3rd Generation family-owned business, which is one of Germany’s leading dairy companies.

Moving forward it will be very much business as usual. We will continue to be known as Trewithen Dairy and Ehrmann has been very clear that it is committed to harnessing our Cornish provenance and investing in the growth of Trewithen’s Cornish dairy products.

Cornish Cream

Our indulgent, award winning cream is as fresh and as natural as it is unbelievably creamy and rich.

Cornish Milk

Our Cornish milk comes from our own directly contracted farmers, all based within a 25-mile radius of our dairy. We are caretakers of the land; we and our farmers recognise the need to look after the environment for future generations.

Cornish Butter

Our creamy butter is as deliciously rich as it looks. We’re not sure if it’s the luxuriously smooth texture, the buttercup yellow colour, the rich flavour or the fact that it’s churned using Cornish cream that makes it so special.

Cornish Yoghurt

Our indulgent yoghurts are bio live and a source of protein. Thick, rich and creamy with a distinctively luxurious taste, Greek style has never been so simply delicious. Drizzle with honey, top with granola or pair with your favourite fruit.

Our Farmers

At Trewithen Dairy, we and our farmers are passionate about the health and welfare of the cows that produce the essential ingredient in all our great tasting dairy products – high quality, Cornish milk. The dairy farms that are contracted to supply Trewithen are all located within 25 miles of the dairy and we take great pride in the fact that we know each one of our farmers personally.

Although no two Trewithen Dairy farms are the same, all our farmers share a common set of values and comply with a comprehensive set of standards that ensure high levels of animal health, welfare and husbandry. We are caretakers of the land; we and our farmers recognise the need to look after the environment for future generations.
